NATIONAL FARMERS' FEDERATION PROJECT

Office of the Australian Agriculture Trade Diversification Representative

Delivered by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI) is a $50 million program helping Australian businesses to diversify into new export markets and capitalise on growth opportunities in established markets.

A central workstream of ANMI is the Trade Diversification Network (TDN), which supports industry bodies to execute strategic activities to address the trade needs of their sectors. It consists of 40 peak industry bodies representing Australian exporters from across the economy.

The Office of the Australian Agriculture Trade Diversification Representative is designed as an industry-led function hosted by the National Farmers Federation (NFF). Its priority aim is to appoint a candidate to the role of Australian Agriculture Trade Diversification Representative. This Representative will have deep agricultural industry experience and standing in order to provide a ‘whole-of-sector’ voice during trade delegations and events, and to help coordinate TDN agri-food member activity.

This role will be advertised in mid-May. Please refer to the NFF careers page for further information.

This model seeks to build on the success of the NFF’s role as a strategic partner of Austrade during the November 2025 Strategic Agribusiness Partnerships to Indonesia and Brunei. The NFF partnered with Austrade to ensure a ‘whole-of-industry’ voice was present on the delegation, complementing the activities of individual agrifood businesses and government officials. The NFF also provided industry perspective feedback and insights from the tour to assist with future Austrade activities.

Consistent with the ANMI aims, it is a short-term ‘surge’ project, concluding in June 2027.

The project involves three key pillars of activity which will occur within the context of the ANMI-funded activities, and do not seek to compliment, not replicate, existing work of the DFAT, DAFF or Rural Research and Development organisations.
