The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) today welcomed the appointment of former NFF Executive Director Dr Wendy Craik AM to the position of Chair of the Climate Change Authority (CCA).
The CCA is a statutory authority that provides advice to Government on climate policy.
“Dr Craik has demonstrated over many years her leadership ability, particularly in the fields of policy and natural resource management,” NFF President Brent Finlay said.
“The appointment of a Chair with an agricultural background to the Authority will ensure industry’s viewpoint is recognised and understood.
“The NFF is developing a vision for low-emissions intensity farming in Australia. Farmers are already making great progress to reduce their emissions, including the adoption of more sustainable practices and the implementation of better risk management strategies.
“Ultimately, the goal is to help unlock the huge potential of farms to generate energy, cut greenhouse gas emissions and help create a sustainable rural economy.
“The NFF is delighted by this appointment and looks forward to working with Dr Craik and the CCA as they undertake their important work on climate policy,” Mr Finlay said.
