The NFF’s 21 July 2008 submission highlights that rural and regional school students have lower literacy and numeracy outcomes than city students and fewer go on to study at university – yet, as modern farming involves high-tech equipment, science and skills, proficiencies in language, literacy and numeracy are essential.
