The NFF’s 28 March 2017 submission recommends that the Government adopt the Australian Tax Office definition for Primary Producer. The NFF’s view is that the imposition of costs for referral under the EPBC provides an additional barrier and may result in the failure of the EPBC Act to achieve its objectives.
Australia’s legislative, regulatory and policy framework for unconventional gas mining
It is the NFF’s view that landholder rights impacted by mining and extraction licences should be protected by strong, state-based regulatory and scientific frameworks. Further work is required to ensure there are strong regulatory frameworks with clearly specified legal rights, protections and obligations consistent across all jurisdictions.
