The Ministerial Forum for Food Regulation has voted to keep the Health Star Rating of fresh Australian fruit and vegetable juice at 2.5 stars – a lower rating than diet soft drink! Help secure the right rating for Aussie juice and support our citrus growers.
By ranking fresh fruit and vegetable juice lower than diet soft drink, the Ministerial Forum for Food Regulation have highlighted the need for our flawed Health Star Rating System to be reviewed.
The current system failed to take into account the countless nutritional benefits of fresh fruit and vegetable juice including vitamin C, Folate and Thiamin and the role they play in a well-rounded and balanced diet.
Currently, 94% of Australians aren’t eating the recommended serving of fruit and vegetables each day. A small glass of juice has enough nutrients to reverse this disappointing trend.
By rating 100% fresh Australian juice (with no added sugar) lower than diet soft drink, health regulators have sent a mixed and potentially dangerous message to the Australian public.
