NFF statement on bushfires, flooding and cyclone disasters

Comments attributable to NFF President Hamish McIntyre

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the horrific bushfires, flooding and Cyclone Koji.

It’s devastating that human and animal lives have been lost, along with vital infrastructure.

The scale of destruction is huge, and it will take a lot of time, effort, and money to recover.

We thank the Federal Government for its swift response in announcing disaster assistance for impacted farmers in Victoria and Queensland.

It’s great to see all levels of governments, along with emergency services, communities and charities rally together in this difficult time.

The quick response will undoubtedly help rural communities to recover.

There are multiple agencies offering assistance, and we encourage farmers to contact the Victorian Farmers’ Federation’s Disaster Relief Fund, AgForce, Queensland Farmers’ Federation, their relevant industry group, and the NFF Disaster Relief website.
