The Advocacy Retreat is a three-day workshop in Canberra that introduces you to agricultural advocacy. During the retreat you will learn about how the NFF advocates, processes for decision-making and methods for policy development. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet key stakeholders in agricultural advocacy, government, and politics. A few topics covered during the retreat are:
The Policy Project will allow you to deep dive and implement what you learnt in the Advocacy Retreat and pitch new ideas to the NFF. Following the retreat, you will have a chance to research an issue in agriculture and prepare a paper and presentation on a potential solution.
This project will provide direct experience in developing new ideas, researching policy challenges and potential solutions, developing evidence-based policy and the ongoing advocacy process inside the NFF.
During the Advocacy Retreat you will be matched with an industry leader as part of an ongoing mentoring program. For the duration of the program you are able to work with successful industry leaders as you implement the skills and tools developed throughout the program. It is also an opportunity to work through issues and challenges they face as they deploy their new leadership and policy skills in real-life contexts.
