NFF President Jock Laurie and his family hosted a city family on their farm at Walcha in North West NSW for FarmDay 2011. Concord residents Mark and Rachel Batkin and their children, Amy, 12, and Nathan, 9, spent a weekend with the Laurie family, learning about life on the land as part of the FarmDay program, which was founded by former Rural Woman of the Year Deb Bain as a way of helping to bridge the city-country divide.
The visit was featured on ABC’s Landline on Sunday 3 July. You can watch the program http://www.abc.net.au/landline/content/2010/s3259710.htm[here] or learn more about FarmDay http://www.farmday.com.au[here].
