FarmHub introduces drought preparedness resources

From one easy-to-navigate Drought Preparedness e-Guide, farmers can now access over one hundred Farm Risk Management Resources to assist them in preparing for drought.

A Commonwealth Government initiative delivered by the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF), FarmHub is the first national directory of support and assistance measures
tailor-made for farmers.

The Drought Preparedness e-Guide provides farmers with the appropriate Farm Risk Management Resources that allow them to make informed decisions when preparing for drought.

“The drought preparedness resources collated on FarmHub have been developed by leading agriculture bodies and research and development corporations,” NFF CEO Tony Mahar said.

“The listings cover everything from agronomic and business tips, to information on calculating feed supply patterns.”

Mr Mahar said while not all drought-affected areas received the recent rainfall, many of those who did were now looking to recovery.

“Part of this process is putting strategies in place in the paddock and in the farm office to manage the inevitable droughts of the future,” Mr Mahar said.

He said the key to the success of the Drought Preparedness e-Guide was its ease of navigation and specifically tailored Farm Risk Management Resources.

“When visiting the e-Guide, users can easily find information relevant to them and identify steps and supporting documents to prepare them for future droughts.

“Listings are filtered by commodity group and state/territory to assure that farmers only receive information that is relevant to them.”

The planning behind the new drought preparedness feature was completed in conjunction with NFF members and rural RDCs.

The resource is a fantastic new tool in the FarmHub toolkit to make accessing information for farmers faster and easier.

Since the start of the year, thousands of people visited FarmHub to access up-to-date resources on drought and bushfire assistance.
