Embracing and adopting new emerging technological solutions at-scale to support adaptation must be viable and not come to the individual cost and expense of farmers. Currently, the agriculture sector does not have capacity to take advantage of emerging potential opportunities that support adaptation and a low emissions future. Although initial research and trials in this space have delivered promising results, several technologies that support adaptation have either significantly underperformed, are cost-prohibitive to implement at-scale, or have attached inherent adoption risks that create fundamental barriers to action.
