The NFF submission supports measures to improve transparency in the market for residential and small businesses as recommended in the ACCC Retail Electricity Pricing Inquiry Report. Retail offers have been opaque and confusing, preventing customers from selecting the best market offer. People in regional and rural Australia already pay significant higher power prices than those in the city so measures that improves their ability to discern retail offers are offered. However, in developing the DMO, the default price should be communicated in a way that is simple, accessible and easy to understand.
