The NFF recognises the potential of genetic modification (GM) and particularly new breeding techniques (NBTs) as a valuable tool within agricultural production systems. The NFF welcomes the FSANZ proposal to modernise Australia’s genetic technology regulations and bring Australia into line with the growing international market. Australian farmers are well-placed to reap the benefits of genetic technology and help meet future challenges around environmental sustainability, agricultural productivity, and human health.
